Summer vacations in Italy

Posted on

My summer vacations started almost a week ago and it was really needed. This year I decided to spend my vacations in Italy, the best place in the world.. or at least for me.

Even if Garda Lake is only a-two hour drive from my home town, I have rarely spent time there but don’t ask me why.

My friend and I rented a cozy small apartment in the historical center of Sirmione and from there we visited several other small Garda lake towns – needless to say that they are all very very beautiful and worth visiting them.

Sirmione – Scaligero castle
Sirmione – old city walls
Sirmione – Piazza Carducci

The other towns we visited during our short but precious stay were Lazise from where we caught the boat to go to Isola del Garda which is an amazing and historical strip of land in the middle of the Garda lake. The villa, the gardens, the history and the location will make this tour unforgettable.

Isola del Garda – the villa

With only 34 Euro we bought a boat ticket with Navigazione dei Laghi which allowed us to go from Sirmione, located in the lowest part of the lake, almost to the top: it is a sort of hop-on hop-off bus but instead it is a boat.

Next stop were Salo’ – my favorite -, Malcesine from where you can take the cable car to go up to Monte Baldo – 2218 meters – and Garda with its famous Punta San Vigilio and Baia delle Sirene.

Needless to say that we had a blast and we want to come back to see other towns around the lake and to enjoy more this lovely Italian lake.
