This Autumn Scottish designer Brenda Macleod introduces her latest collection of stylish bags designed to meet the exacting demands of the contemporary woman.
Conceived in Inverness, Scotland and handmade in Florence, the range infuses impeccable craftsmanship with timeless design. Classic shapes meet contemporary detailing on carefully selected natural leathers, produced in some of the best Tuscan tanneries. The leather is worked by hand in-house using traditional vegetable tanning techniques. Left untreated, the leather retains its individual grain pattern, taking on a unique patina with age and use.
Aimed at the busy, working woman, each bag is stylish and functional with thoughtful detailing and a choice of both striking and demure colourways whether you are making a statement or pairing with your working wardrobe.
The range includes the Fiona Double Handle Bag which is ideal for daily use and the morning commute. Each Fiona bag has a spacious interior large enough to carry a small laptop and essentials such as a mobile and make-up bag. The Fiona is light and easy to hand carry or worn across the body with the adjustable shoulder strap.
The Jane Tote is a ‘grab-and-go’ bag with a spacious interior to accommodate personal and work essentials. It is ideal for everyday use as a work or messenger bag and for the weekend. There are four internal slip pockets and an additional central zipped pocket large enough to hold your laptop, mobile phone and iPad. It can be hand carried or worn across the body with the adjustable detachable shoulder strap.
The Grace Tote is an elegant, lady-like bag evoking a certain sense of glamour. Handcrafted in smooth, luxurious natural leather, Grace is sleek, streamlined and perfectly structured with a generous interior for your essentials. Grace is secured with a magnetic snap closure and has double rolled leather handles making it light and comfortable to hand carry or worn over the arm.
Made to last a lifetime, each Brenda Macleod handbag is an investment piece. The full collection is available to buy online at www.brendamacleod.com. Prices start from £160.
With every purchase, Brenda Macleod donates a percentage of sales to A Bag , A Home, a personal project that is very close to Brenda’s heart. Growing up in Africa, Brenda witnessed the hardships faced by children and young adults living on the streets with no home or loving family. To this end, every Brenda Macleod handbag purchased will contribute toward an improved quality of life by providing funding for the building of homes to remove vulnerable children and young adults from the streets, giving them a loving home and a life with purpose and meaning. Brenda works with OMF Zambia and SOS Children’s Villages.
ABOUT
Brenda began her life in Africa. Her logo’s geometric swallow design echoes her personal journey of coming to Scotland. The swallow symbolises a bird of freedom, flying to and from Africa to the UK as part of its annual migration. She spent multiple years in finance laying the foundation for her business-to-be, and returned to her love of leather a couple of decades later. She spent time in Italy learning the traditional methods of vegetable tanning and attended London College of Fashion to hone her creativity and develop her signature classic-meets-contemporary style. While Brenda did not start her career in accessories, she’s always known she would end up there. She adds “A bag is used to transport your whole life around and if you have a bag that means something to you, it’s almost like a friend for life. This is what I want my bags to be for people”.
