Having previously owned and managed a contemporary art gallery, it’s no surprise that Delada’s founder Lada Komarova continues to be influenced by the art world for her SS13 collection.
Taking inspiration from modern artist and sculptor Teresita Fernandez, Lada has interpreted some of her most famous works into prints and silhouettes in the new Delada collection. The elements of fire and water as well as the idea of reflection and holding up a mirror to the world are explored in the works of Fernandez, and translated into the Delada pieces.
Combining razor-sharp tailoring with flowing fabrics, the collection consists of corseted dresses in flowing column silhouettes that are both elegant and avant-garde. Both flattering and aesthetically pleasing, the tailored separates are a mix of masculine and feminine: the perfect day-to-night wear for the modern woman.
Structure is juxtaposed with soft layering to create pieces that are sophisticated and covetable. Incorporating Eastern elements such as Kimono sleeves into the collection, Lada continues to re-define modern dressing. In shimmering silks as well as suede and leather, SS13 is another luxurious collection for the woman who is daring yet elegant.
