I am glad to feature an interview with Nagehan Dobler who is the founder of Nana Gotti – a Zurich based luxury womenswear label.
Q.: When did you decide to star your eponymous brand? A little while ago. Around 2018 we started to set up our brand and experiment with different direction and styles.
Q.: Who would you like to collaborate with? and why? With Amina Muaddi. I love her fashion-sense and creativity
Q.: Where do you take the inspiration from? I take my inspiration from everywhere, starting from music, culture, movies and magazines.
Q.: How sustainable is your brand? We only run small production and produce two seasonal collection a year to dedicate some time to research and source sustainable fabrics. We care about the importance of fair working conditions and promote local businesses by sourcing from Turkish fabric suppliers. Our next step to be more sustainable is to find the right fabric supplier that provides us with recycled fabrics.
Q.: What are your future plans? We are opening our first showroom in Zurich, which will be open around June. By doing so, we are focusing on our existing customer as well as trying to get new customers. We would like to understand our consumer directly and improve our products. They should feel home when entering the showroom and try on new styles. Once we are totally settled, we would like to create new products etc. I have so many ideas but also really impatient.
Q.: Have you ever thought about designing other things besides fashion? We would like to expand our products.
Q.: If your brand was a book, which one would it be? Untamed by Glennon Doyle. It is the story of how each of us can begin to trust ourselves enough to set boundaries, make peace with our bodies, honor our anger and heartbreak, and unleash our truest, wildest instincts so that we become women who can finally look at ourselves and say: There She Is. Untamed shows us how to be brave. As Glennon insists: The braver we are, the luckier we get.
Q.: The best advice that you received so far is.. If you don’t try, you will never know
Q.: What garment should we all have in our wardrobe and why? Never underestimate an oversized blazer. Pair it with sneakers and you are ready for the day, but if you are pairing it with some colorful heels, you will own the night.
Q.: What garment better represents your brand? Our Lauren Blazer. It’s a mix of an oversized blazer and an off-shoulder dress.
Q.: What is elegance for you? Elegance is someone that embraces all her dark sides and flaws. Someone, who accepts all parts of herself and understand that it’s what makes her so unique.
