The tweed boucle’ blazers

Posted on

The tweed boucle’ blazer has always been my favourite one and I am glad that in the past seasons more and more brands are introducing this blazer in their collections. Why I like this jacket? Because it is not the classic jacket but it has a different allure , at least to me.

The most famous tweed blazer is obviously the one by Chanel who was designed by Mme Coco Chanel back in the 1920’s which became an icon. The jacket in the photo below is taken from Chanel F/W 2011 collection.

What kind of material is tweed? Tweed is a rough, unfinished  woolen fabric, of a soft, open, flexible texture, resembling cheviot  or homespun, but more closely woven. It is made in either plain or  twill weave and may have a check or herringbone  pattern. Subdued, interesting colour effects (heather mixtures) are obtained by twisting together differently coloured woolen strands into a two- or three-ply yarn. (Source: Wikipedia).

Again for this season the tweed boucle jacket is a must, make sure you buy one and to help you with it, here a large variety among which you can choose the best for you.

Long, short, soft or dark colours, with leather inserts.

All these jackets are short to emphasized better the shape of your body.

More short jackets with metal chains and trimmings in different colours.

Grey and beige are probably the 2 most popolar colours for this kind of jacket because they can be matched perfectly with many other colours.

Tweed and leather what a great combination!

Least but not last my personal tweed jacket by Rinascimento.
