Sander Lak is the creative director of Sies Marjan. The label takes its name from his father and mother’s given names, respectively.
Sander was born in Brunei and raised in his native Holland. He was educated at ArtEZ in Arnhem, the Netherlands and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, United Kingdom, where he graduated with a Masters Degree in 2008. His design experience includes time spent in the ateliers of prestigious design houses in New York, Antwerp, and Paris.
Sander lives and works in New York City, USA.
For Spring Summer 2017, the Sies Marjan collection is a narrative of colors, from the sun bleached to neon: where apple green, lemon and orange, meet flamingo, sky blue, amy green, tan and navy.
Slip dresses and tops, folding up from the hem and falling down in wings from the shoulders, are anchored by shirt plackets and trench details.
Color play against texture, as liquid satin, seersucker cotton, crumpled silk ad plastic velvet the form in wrapped tops, glared pants and thrown on gown.
