The designer:

Elina Vanaga was born in Latvia. She received her marketing degree from the University of Latvia and has studied fashion design at The London College of Fashion.

Elina’s interest in fashion design started when she was a little girl. Her grand-grandmother’s best friend escaped to USA and was sending her beautiful vintage clothing that served as her first inspiration to design for herself and then friends.

After her both children were born Elina decided to leave her job at the helm of marketing for a renowned European music festival “Positivus Festival” (The biggest music festival in Baltic States) to realize her unique childhood dream of the Deeply Personal fashion brand.

Combining her passion and knowledge for fashion design and marketing experience she established women’s ready-to-wear fashion brand Deeply Personal in Riga, Latvia in early 2015.

Elina designed her first official collection for Deeply Personal SS16 and presented it in Milan, SUPER trade show. Marco Magalini and Sara Maino featured the brand in VOGUE Italian online as Milan Fashion Week Vogue Talents.

The brand:

The inspiration for Deeply Personal FW16 collection has come from the brand’s creative director’s personal inspiration gained during her many trips to France – “My kids attend French kinder garden, they speak French and I am obsessed with the French Joie de vivre. I love French approach to education, they allow children complete freedom at the same time maintaining strong and clear boundaries.”

Boundaries in brand’s creative director’s mind is a frame that is a geometric shape that holds together the creative chaos that seems to happen in French lifestyle. Elina often uses expression Geometrie Francais for her AW16 collection by this meaning all that contains the French lifestyle – love for life, freedom to be yourself, respect to each other as personalities – to each and every ones personal boundaries.

Geometric shapes often serve as inspiration for Elina’s creative work. In AW16 collection she has chosen lines as stripes in fine wool fabric dresses and skirts, round shapes as big buttons for dresses and vests or perfectly round holes with metal details for dresses and trousers, fake fur triangles as patches for transparent mesh tops. As Elina puts it – even flowers are chaotic geometric lines. You will find them in cool khaki lace dresses and skirts and in mix of fine wool and lace fabrics.

Continuing the idea of a woman that is balancing business and family lives, the collection contains classics as white poplin cotton shirts, wool dresses, suit jackets and trousers and several tunes of khaki that represents the uniform in women’s busy lives – boundaries, responsibilities. The collection is based on simple, straight cuts empowering the active women to feel comfortable and feminine at the same time.
